I love texture and colour. And flowers! My paintings are inspired by rambling, colourful gardens or vases overflowing with brightly coloured blooms. I paint in acrylic and often embellish with torn paper and fibres.
In my previous life I owned a book store, worked as a teacher-librarian, reviewed books, and taught future teacher-librarians at UBC. I retired and thought I would write a book. But no! I took an art course at TOSH and was hooked! Many courses later, I still find joy in painting!
My art is intuitive. No plan. No drawing. I may begin with an idea or a colour. After years of working within a strict timetable, I find that I deeply appreciate the freedom of simply responding to a painting as it progresses.
I used to teach art to little kids. Now I get to be that little kid, and play!
